Current issues

  • The White Ribbon Foundation

November 25 is the international day for the elimination of violence against women and the Australian White Ribbon Foundation is promoting culture-change around the issue with a number of community events. For information on the Australian campaign see the White Ribbon Foundation of Australia. For information about violence against women, see the AIC's web pages on family/domestic violence and sexual assault.

  • People trafficking - online survey

The Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC) is running an online survey which seeks to investigate what members of the community understand and think about people trafficking. The survey is completely anonymous and can be accessed via this link. Please contact Jacqueline Joudo Larsen if you have any trouble accessing the survey.

  • Schoolies week

As Year 12 school leavers finish their school education and begin their group celebrations, many parents and community members worry about the potential for danger and harm. For a practical guide on making these celebrations safer, see our fact sheet - and for further resources visit our web page on schoolies week.

Focus on

  • Interactive data tool: drugs and offenders

The tool allows you to perform basic manipulation of core elements of Drug Use Monitoring in Australia data and create your own charts and tables.

  • 2007-08 fraud against the Commonwealth survey

The 2007-08 fraud against the Australian Government survey is now available for agencies to complete online. The AIC is responsible for the receipt and analysis of all agencies' information and for preparing the annual fraud report.

The 2007-08 survey has been revised to improve the overall clarity and layout of the questionnaire, and to give more detailed information on incidents of fraud.
